Here we are, almost a year later and I finally realize how funny the universe really is.

As I type this, the man I want to spend the rest of my life with is reassuring me that I am beautiful, even after a long shift at work. While writing this post, I am surrounded by the people I love in a place where my education, experience, and soul will grow and flourish. As I sit here with the understanding of why everything happened the way it did, all I can think to say is thank you.

Thank you for breaking my heart and forcing me to rebuild the individuality I had lost over our time together. Thank you for leaving me alone and making me realize that I could stand on my own two feet without crutches. Thank you for being completely heartless and giving me the opportunity to find everything I could ever want.

 Thank you for doing what I couldn’t and giving me the option to find love.
